Combat Sports Team Leader for Rio 2016
The Australian Olympic Committee has been onsite at the AIS this week to host a Campaign Rio briefing for all Olympic sports. At this forum it was announced that Andrew Logan has been appointed as our Combat Sports Team Leader for Rio 2016.
Andrew will be working across all four combat sports - boxing, judo, taekwondo and wrestling - to manage the logistical and administrative elements of our collective preparation and performance in the lead up to and during the Games. Andrew will also oversee our integration into the broader Australian Olympic Team and be the key conduit of information flow between the Chef de Mission, Team HQ staff and the combat sports.
Andrew is well placed for this important leadership role as he has in Team and in Village experience at five Summer and Winter Olympic Games with four different sports, as well as having current management oversight of the Combat Centre as an AIS Deputy Director. Andrew has built his sporting expertise in Australia and the UK Sport System. Andrew was an elite cyclist and has held several coaching and management positions in high performance sport.
We look forward to working closely with Andrew over the next 20 months as he integrates with our athletes, coaches and other support team members to lead us on the Road to Rio.
