The JFA Board met in Canberra recently for the inaugural JFA Limited Board meeting following the transition to being a Company under the Corporations Act. This transition to Company status offers the JFA many opportunities to further grow and professionalise the sport of Judo in Australia.
At their meeting, the Directors were required to appoint the first Chair of JFA Ltd to lead the Board.
Following extensive discussion, the Directors unanimously appointed Kate Corkery as Chair and Neville Sharpe as Deputy Chair of the JFA.
Kate is a Lawyer with extensive experience in sport law, integrity, governance and litigation. In only 12 months as a Director, Kate has demonstrated to the Judo stakeholders her strong interpersonal and influencing skills as well as her confidence and ability to lead change.
Neville Sharpe will continue to support the JFA in his new role as Deputy Chair. Neville is well known in Judo circles and has spent more than 40 years as a player, referee, coach and administrator.
Kate and Neville have enjoyed working closely together and with the Board over the past 12 months and are certain their respective strengths and passions will serve the JFA and the Board well across the next 2 years.
