New National Points System (2018)

The JFA is pleased to release our new National Points System (NPS), applicable from 1st January 2018.

Over the past few years it has become apparent that the previous system being used by the High Performance program had become obsolete and not conducive to creating a World Class performance environment. After a significant and thorough consultation process with our wide range of diverse stakeholders we believe that this new NPS is fit for the current domestic and international environments and will best support our High Performance program moving forward. The new NPS acknowledges international performance, aids in strengthening our domestic competitions and will develop a more elite performance focus for Judo in Australia.

We will transition to this new NPS on 1st January 2018 for the Cadet, Junior and Senior age groups with all athletes starting with zero points. However for selection purposes for 2018 major events, results prior to 1st January 2018 will be recognised according to the relevant selection criteria provided for each event.

We have prepared a Frequently Asked Questions document, from comments received throughout the consultation process. Our Technical Director will also hold an educational session during the ACT International Open to provide further education on the new system. If you have any questions not answered by the FAQs, please don’t hesitate to contact our Technical Director Maria Pekli via
