Judo Australia is seeking Expressions of Interest from Cadet athletes keen to develop their skills on a European Tour departing at the end of October.
Selected athletes will contest the Cadet European Cup in Koper, Slovenia, from October 26, attend a training camp in Koper and then travel to Budapest , Hungary, for a second week-long training camp before competing at the Gyor Cadet European Cup and International Training Camp, November 9-13.
This is a massive development opportunity for young judo athletes looking to step up to international competition. Selected athletes will be competing and training with athletes in Judo Australia's Cadet Development Squad as well as some of Europe's best young talent.
Please submit your Expression of Interest using the linked form by no later than Monday, 19 August.
Selection for this event will be finalised by 23 August, 2024, with all athletes required to demonstrate eligibility across the following criteria:
~ be an Australian citizen and hold a current Australian passport (or have special permission from the IJF to represent Australia)
~ have won at least two medals at National Event Series events (or higher) since the 2023 Australian National Championships, and ranked highly on the National Points Table (cadets).
~ not have any outstanding debt with Judo Australia or CombatAUS.
~ have a history of supporting national programs (attending training camps where possible etc)
~ have not, by actions or omissions, brought yourself, JA, CombatAUS or the Australian Team into disrespect or censure
~ be at least 2nd kyu, blue belt, born in 2007, 2008, 2009.
~ be a financial member of your Club, and thus Judo Australia, and hold a valid IJF card.
Event entries, accommodation and flight bookings will be completed by Judo Australia. The cost is estimated to be around $3500 (AUD). Cadet Development Squad members will receive a $1500 subsidy; all other athletes must self fund, with payment in full required before departure.
