Fight Taipei, train in Japan - EOI for seniors now open

Senior judo athletes seeking World Ranking Points and exposure to some of the region’s top talent are invited

to contest the Taipei Senior Asian Open (July 18-19), followed by a ten-day training camp at Budo University in Japan.

Judo Australia is seeking Expressions of Interest for selection to this tour from senior and final year junior players who are not currently categorised or part of the National Performance Centre program.  A National coach will lead this Australian team to Taipei and offer guidance to help maximise the experience of training in Japan.

To be selected, players must have achieved at least 1st Dan black belt, be in the top 3 of a division on the Senior National Points Table, and have medaled at the 2023 National Championships or a National Event Series event in 2024.

To represent Australia, players must be an Australian citizen with a current Australian passport, hold a valid IJF ID Card, and be financial member of Judo Australia/its affiliates and be in good standing with JA and the Combat Institute of Australia.

This is a self-funded event and athletes will need to book and pay for their own flights.  Tournament entry and official accommodation must be booked via Judo Australia, with all costs invoiced to the athlete and payment required before departure.

The event outline for the Taipei Senior Asian Open is available from the IJF website, HERE.

To express your interest, please respond via the linked form (EOI for Taipei Open & Budo University Camp) on or before Friday June 14.
