National Mentor Program launches with a $1000 opportunity to shadow Warren for a week

Judo Australia has launched its National Mentor Program targeting Club Coaches, with three scholarships worth $1000 each to encourage eligible coaches to take up the opportunity to spend a week shadowing Warren Rosser: Head Coach at Australia's biggest judo club.

Announcing the program, Judo Australia's National Participation Manager, Shane Alvisio, said the National Mentor Program aims to foster personal and professional growth, skills development and community within the Clubs that lead our sport.

An initiative funded under the PlayWell strategy for Australian sport, the National Mentor Program will target a wide range of business areas and specialisations across Judo, starting with coaching.

"It's about sharing knowledge - the things that work, the approaches that bring people back, week on week, year on year. As coaches, as administrators, as small business owners," Shane explained. "We want to boost participation, and boost retention, and help more people have more fun with judo."

"Some clubs do this really, really well, and we are giving people a chance to learn from them. Warren Rosser was an Olympian, a world class athlete, but more importantly has grown a small Uni club into the largest, busiest Club in the country. He has lots to teach these three lucky winners."

As the Club Coach mentor, Warren will welcome three coaches to his two dojos - at the UNSW Uni-Gym, and the Eastern Suburbs PCYC, both in Sydney.

Regional and non-NSW recipients will receive a scholarship of $1000 to assist with accommodation and travel costs associated with taking up this opportunity.

Applicants must be financial members of Judo Australia's state members, and hold current coaching accreditation as Senior Coach, Sensei Judo or Assistant Coach under Judo Australia's Coach Accreditation Framework.
