WORLD UNIVERSITY GAMES
20-27 July, Essen, Germany

University athletes from around the world will gather in Germany's Rhine-Ruhr region this July for a celebration spanning 19 different sports - including judo.
​
Judo Australia has been invited to send a team of seven men and seven women to Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games. Judo competition over 14 weight divisions will take place in the Rhine-Ruhr city of Essen, from 23 to 26 July.​

Expressions of Interest are now open, with the EOI to be submitted by 5pm (AEST) on Monday, 31 March. Selections will be made on Monday, 7 April 2025 following completion of the Melbourne International Open.
Athletes hoping to contest this international competition must meet both the FISU (International University Sports Federations) and Judo Australia eligibility criteria, as detailed in the Selection Criteria.
These include:
* be a JA Categorised Athlete or member of a National Development Squad
* be aged 18-25 (born between 1 January 2000 and 31 December 2007)
* be enrolled in an approved University degree or diploma (or have recently graduated)
*be a financial member of and be in good standing with Judo Australia and the Combat Institute of Australia (CombatAUS)
* have no outstanding debt with JA or CombatAUS
* be at least 1st Dan, black belt
* actively participating in national programs (NES events and national camps)
* hold a valid IJF ID Card

All athletes will need to complete and submit the FISU Certificate of Academic Eligibility as part of this Selection Process. The certificate must be completed by the athlete and then given to their respective universities to be signed and stamped with the University Seal.
